Trip so far

So, its been a while since i updated this thing. since i last updated this i have cried and laughed more than i have in a long time!

Saturday morning i was dropped to the airport by mom and dad to meet lisa and maryanne for our flight to london. needless to say there were plenty of tears! after the flight it was time to hit London and hopefully meet a few of the guys from the trip. I would like to say that i did loads of cultural things while in london, but in reality i drove past Buckingham palace and trafalgar square and that was it. we (lisa, maryanne, caitriona, nicola and me) literally went straight to the pub to watch the leinster match!!! (And what a match it was!). It was a shame that andrew couldnt make it into town for a drink, but at least now i have a reason to go back to london! in the pub i met ronan, one of the guys who is on the trip with me. really nice guy so it boded well for the rest of the trip! hopefully!!! after a realtively early night and a few more tears it was time to head off to the bus.

it was a really beautiful sunny day when we (lisa, cat and me) arrived at cleopatras needle, the meeting point for the bus. it was here that the final 20 of us met for the first time! there are 15 girls and 5 guys, 9 iish people, 6 english, 1 swiss, 1 dutch, 1 german and an american. everyone seems really nice and we are all getting on well; so far! so we left london and headed to dover to catch the ferry to calais. that was the first real chance to talk to everyone. once we docked in calais it was stright to Bruges having never set a foot in France! bruges is so gorgeous!! but i cant quite believe that i saw it from a bike! at6 least i didnt fall off (which was quiet likely to happen at one point! damn cute dog!). after that we went for dinner as a group and a few quiet drinks. which turned into a four hour dancing session!

the following morning was a ridicuously early start (though we have since been told that its not that early by whats to come!) we headed to Germany. unfortunately there is no stop in heidleburg so we were staying in a small place called st goar. before we got to the hostel (and herman more importantly) we stopped off at marksburgh castle in the rhine valley. and then we met herman. mentaler!!!!! apparently he has been know to show up in mental costumes and managed to scare the bejesus out of april with his freaky mask! such a funny night!! i was in bits after laughing so much!

after another early morning we headed to prague. and after a lot of driving (about 8 hours) we finally arrived. the suburbs where we were staying was pretty ex-soviet looking but the central part of the city is really really beautiful! despite the horiffic thunderstorm! took it fairly handy in prague and just generally wandered about and went for a trip on the river under charles bridge. of course there was also the obligitory trip to an irish bar to watch barcalona beat man u.

this was followed by another early morning to hit vienna! on the way we stopped off at the weirdest place ever, kotna hora! its a chrurch that is decorated with the bones of people who died during the plague and the world wars. absolutely mental! im not sure what the guy who did it was thinking but there are bone chandeliers all over the place.

after 20 strange minites (and the bus breaking down) we headed back for the road and towards vienna where we are now. we have a full day here tomorrow so no doubt there will be more wandering about and looking at all the beautiful things vienna has to offer.

i cant believe its day 5. it feels like much more!
